The Mission
I have learned that the word “kuleana” can mean both responsibility and privilege. Kuleana is why I started Hawaiʻi Consumer Justice. As an attorney living in Hawaii, it is my responsibility to use my legal expertise to help consumers in need. Likewise, it is an honor to give back and to fight for a more just and fair Hawai’i.
Cora Hume
I am an experienced consumer protection attorney with over 20 years of legal and advocacy work.
Before starting Hawaiʻi Consumer Justice, I served as Senior Counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office for Older Americans.
For over 12 years I protected older adults through enforcement actions, supervision exams, drafting regulations, and conducting public education.
I moved to Hawaiʻi in in 2021 and fell in love with the community and the land. I am forever grateful for my adopted home.
Outside of work, I enjoy paddling, hiking, volunteering at my local lo‘i, and traveling with my family.
